On October 28, 2010 Ambassador of Ukraine to the Republic of Korea Volodymyr Belashov took part in celebration of the 30th Anniversary of establishment of Yongin Campus of Hankuk University of Foreign Studies.

Within the framework of these since the establishment of the Department of the Ukrainian Studies in Hankuk University were also marked. This Department, where nowadays more than 30 Korean students study Ukrainian language and culture, is the first of its kind among all Asian Universities.

In his address, the Ambassador of Ukraine congratulated professors and students of the Hankuk University on the occasion of the Yongin Campus.

30th Anniversary and expressed appreciation for the University’s efforts, aimed at promoting Ukrainian language and culture in Korea.

On the margins of this celebration The Week of Ukraine Culture was held by the University's Department of Ukrainian Studies. This Department, established in 2009, was the first in Asia, teaching Ukraine language and culture. More than 30 Korean students are studying at the Department.

During The Week of Ukraine Culture a number of Ukrainian experts delivered lectures on different aspects of Ukrainian – Korean relationship, Korean students sang Ukrainian pop and folk songs, read Ukrainian poems.

Students of the Department took part in the Ukrainian language completion.

Ambassador V. Belashov expressed to the members of the Department of Ukrainian Studies deep appreciation for their efforts in training Korean professionals in Ukrainian languages and culture and discussed with President of the University Park Chul perspectives for further development of cooperation between the University and Ukrainian higher educational institutions.
