The Ukrainian Delegation was headed by the Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs Mr. Victor Mayko and the Korean Delegation by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Mr. Kim Jae-Shin.
During the Consultations the Parties discussed intensification of political dialogue both on the highest and high levels, present state and prospects for the development of trade and economic, investment, scientific and technical as well as cultural and humanitarian cooperation.
Special attention was paid to the participation of the Ukrainian Party in the Seoul Nuclear Security Summit to be held in late March 2012.
The Parties noted the presence of the considerable potential of cooperation in the spheres of energy, space exploration, transport, agriculture, shipbuilding, aeronautics, machine building, civil engineering etc.
Considerable attention was placed on the issue of visa requirements waiver for Ukrainian Citizens visiting the ROK.
During the meeting of the Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs Mr. V.Mayko with the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Mr. Kim Bong-Hyun the Parties separately discussed the cooperation between both countries in the framework of the international organizations. The convergence of the positions of Ukraine and the Republic of Korea on all pressing problems of the World politics, particularly, climate change and fighting terrorism, was noted.
The Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs Mr. V.Mayko also paid visits to the Lotte International Company and the Korea Gas Corporation (KOGAS) in order to discuss the prospects for the bilateral cooperation in agriculture, energy and mining areas as well as the issue of attracting Korean investments to respective sectors of Ukraine’s economy.
