Ambassador of Ukraine Dmytro Ponomarenko gave an interview to “Korea Times”, discussing the issue of the participation of the DPRK military in Russia's war against Ukraine, as well as the conditions for establishing a just peace for Ukraine.
Key comments:
If the captured North Korean soldiers refuse to be repatriated to DPRK Ukraine is open for a dialogue with international partners, particularly the Republic of Korea, regarding the possibilities of their transfer to the third countries.
Regardless of the number and quality of North Korean troops, they are an additional problem for our defenders, adding to their work and distracting them from destroying the Russian aggressors.
Ukraine does not rule out that Pyongyang may soon send additional military personnel to support the Russian Federation.
Ukraine is open to diplomacy, but only to the one that leads to a comprehensive, just and lasting peace.
Now is not the time for our partners to waver or tire. Weakness, compromise on fundamental issues or appeasement will harm not only Ukraine, but the rest of Europe and the world.
