On April 10, 2018, H.E. Olexander Horin, Ambassador of Ukraine in the Republic of Korea met with President of «Korea Aerospace Research Institute (KARI) Mr. Lim Cheol Ho.
Korean partners were informed that Ukrainian Space Industry has 26 state-owned enterprises & institutions and 4 scientific institutions, amongst which the main are the Yuzhnoye State Design Office and the serial producer Yuzhmash.
Since state independence was declared in 1991, Ukraine has launched 148 rockets from several different space platforms: Baikonur, Wallops, Yasnoe and Sea Launch. During this time Ukraine has launched almost 300 satellites, fulfilling contracts with countries all around the globe.
The example of fruitful cooperation between Ukraine and the Republic of Korea was Ukrainian-made carrier rocket «Dnipro» that three times successfully launched into orbit three South Korean satellites KOMPSAT-5, KOMPSAT-3, KOMPSAT-3A.
The further prospects of extending cooperation were discussed.
