On August 30, 2019 the opening ceremony of the «2019 Chungju World Martial Arts Masterships» took place at Chungju Stadium. About 10,000 citizens, athletes and officials including foreign diplomats were present in this important event.
Ukrainian athletes (among others 2,414 athletes from 106 countries) will compete for 271 gold medals in 20 martial arts categories. Such as judo, taekwondo, aikido, ju-jitsu, muay thai, sambo and others.
During the opening ceremony the representative of the Embassy of Ukraine had a brief talk with H.E. Mr. Lee Nak-yon, Prime Minister of the Republic of Korea, and H.E. Mr. Ban Ki-moon, former U.N. Secretary-General, serving now as an honorary president of the «2019 Chungju World Martial Arts Masterships» participated in the opening ceremony.
During the conversation the readiness of Ukrainian side to enhance cooperation in economic, scientific and cultural spheres was emphasized.
