International symposium on “Foreign Affairs and Trade cooperation between Ukraine and the Republic of Korea: Challenges and Prospects” was held in Seoul

Commemorating the 20th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Ukraine and the Republic of Korea the international symposium on “Foreign Affairs and Trade cooperation between Ukraine and the Republic of Korea: Challenges and Prospects” was held in Seoul. With the assistance of the Embassy of Ukraine in the Republic of Korea event was organized by Hankuk University of Foreign Studies and the Korea Institute for International Economic Policy.

Ambassador of Ukraine to the Republic of Korea Vasyl Marmazov, Rector "Hankuk" Park Chul, rector Korea Institute for International Economic Policy Chae Wook, Ambassador Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade on energy and resources, a former Ambassador to Ukraine Park Robyug, Director of the Institute of Russia-CIS Studies of Korea University, a former Ambassador to Ukraine Hur Seung Chul, members of the Embassy of Ukraine, scientists of the number leading universities in Ukraine and Korea, businessmen and mass-media representatives, as well as citizens of Ukraine took park in this symposium.

In his speech, Ambassador of Ukraine Vasily Marmazov touched on achievements of Ukraine and Korea in development of bilateral relations over the past 20 years in political, trade and economic, scientific and technical, cultural and humanitarian spheres. It was noted that the potential of the Ukrainian-Korean relations have not revealed and the two countries have a strong desire for its fullest disclosure.

Participants conducted a detailed analysis of the relations between Ukraine and ROK and outlined prospects of bilateral political dialogue, areas of cooperation in trade, economic and investment fields, cooperation in scientific, technical and educational spheres.

Dean of the Faculty of History Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv V.Kolesnyk, Head of Ethnology and Local History Department of the Faculty of History V.Kapelyushnyi and Professor of this Department V.Pylypenko lectured on the problems of contemporary history and culture of Ukraine.

The symposium became a milestone event in current relations of Ukraine with the Republic of Korea and outlined priority directions of further cooperation between the two countries in various fields from a scientific perspective.
