On May 21st, an official presentation of the "Children Drawing Hope" exhibition of works by young Ukrainians was held at Cheong Wa Dae. The First Lady of Ukraine Mrs. Olena Zelenska and the First Lady of the Republic of Korea Mrs. Kim Keon Hee addressed the attending guests.
The idea of realizing this meaningful project was born during the visit of President Yoon Suk Yeol and the First Lady of the Republic of Korea to Kyiv in July 2023. Its implementation became possible thanks to the support of the first ladies of the two countries, Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of the Republic of Korea, Cheong Wa Dae Foundation and the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine.
The exhibition features over 250 artworks from four children’s art projects in Ukraine – “Art Armor Kids”, “Mom, I see war”, “For God I create the best”, “Future for Ukraine”. Each artwork reflects not only the tragic moments of the war through the eyes of young Ukrainians, but also their hopes for a peaceful future.
The guests of the event had an opportunity to see the reality of lives of Ukrainians who daily suffer from the consequences of Russia’s aggression. Children always openly and sincerely express their emotions through art, and this became the exhibition’s main idea.
We are grateful to the First Lady of Ukraine Mrs. Olena Zelenska for her support of the project, and to the First Lady of the Republic of Korea Mrs. Kim Keon Hee for gracing the event with her presence and her words of solidarity with Ukraine. We highly value her interest in the fate of Ukrainian children.
The Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism of the Republic of Korea Yu In-chon and the Ukrainian delegation represented by Ms. Anna Horban, Deputy Director of National Museum of the History of Ukraine in the Second World War, and Mr. Danylo Tsvok, Co-founder of “Mom, I see War Museum” also attended the event.
We also express our sincere gratitude to everyone who contributed to organizing the exhibition. Your support made the voices of little Ukrainian artists heard here, in the very heart of Seoul.
