On February 7, we visited the Seoul Metropolitan Library to donate books for the "Ukrainian Bookshelf" under the patronage of the First Lady of Ukraine Olena Zelenska. New selection includes books about cultural heritage and prominent figures of Ukraine in English and Ukrainian languages.
We were glad to learn that Ukrainian books are very popular among the Library visitors, in particular the ones about our history.
The key goal of russian aggression against Ukraine is the elimination of Ukrainian nation, thus russia doesn’t give up on its efforts and continues to purposefully destroy the cultural institutions, personalities and memory in Ukraine, like it had been doing for centuries.
Libraries represent the country's cultural heritage, so the enemy systematically destroys them as well as museums, and kills writers and artists.
During almost a year of war against Ukraine about 100 libraries were destroyed by the russian invaders, and in the libraries on the occupied territories russians replace Ukrainian-language books with russian-language literature.
Despite this, book printing is developing in Ukraine and libraries are resuming their work.
