On May 20, 2010 OSCE – Korea Conference on «OSCE and Asian Pertners for Co-operation’s Vision of a Comprehensive Approach to Security Issues» coorganized by the OSCE and the government of the Republic of Korea has finished its work in Seoul.
The participants paid special attention to the possibilities of application of the OSCE concept about building the security system based on cooperation and dialog principles in the security realities of Asia and especially North-East Asian countries, in particular possible use in the Asian region of the OSCE experience in creation of the multilateral security mechanism.
During the Conference its participants examined the problems of OSCE security and cooperation dialog as well as multilateral security cooperation in the North-East Asia. The report of the representative of the Republic of Korea on nuclear program of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, six-party talks and South Korean approaches for “nuclear crisis” settlement on the Korean peninsular, and information regarding Corfu process were presented at the Conference.
Security problems in the spheres of energy, transport, environment protection, women’s contribution to social and political life, women’s role increase in peace and security at all levels, especially by the implementation of appropriate OSCE decisions and resolutions of the UN Security Council were also examined.
