The First Deputy Minister of Education, Youth and Sports of Ukraine Yevhen Sulima and the Ambassador of Ukraine to the Republic of Korea Vasyl Marmazov took part in the 5th APEC Education Ministerial Meeting, which was held on May 21-23 in Gyeongju under the theme: “Future Challenges and Educational Responses: Fostering Global, Innovative and Cooperative Education”. The meeting was attended by over 500 representatives from the 21 countries.

Within the framework of the Meeting the issues of further development of education sector of the APEC based on the new information technologies and globalization of the modern world were discussed.

As part of participation in this event the First Deputy Minister of Education, Youth and Sports of Ukraine Yevhen Sulima and the Ambassador of Ukraine to the Republic of Korea Vasyl Marmazov held talks with the Minister of Education, Science and Technology of the Republic of Korea Ju-Ho Lee. During the meeting the ways of deepening bilateral cooperation in the science and technology sector, including preparations of a new Agreement between Ukraine and the Republic of Korea on educational cooperation, were discussed. Yevhen Sulima on behalf of the Minister of Education, Youth and Sports of Ukraine Dmytro Tabachnyk invited Ju-Ho Lee to visit Ukraine.

Ukrainian delegation also met with the Minister of Education of China Yuan Guiren, the Minister of Education of Brunei Pehin Abu Bakar Apong, the Deputy Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology of Japan Takashi Kii, the Deputy Minister of Education and Science of the Russian Federation Sergei Ivanets, the Deputy Minister of Education and Training of Vietnam Bui Van Ga, the U.S. Deputy Secretary of Education Anthony Miller, the Executive Director of the APEC Secretariat Muhamad Noor Yacob and the Mayor of Gyeongju Choi Yang-Sik.
